Sylvan launches Bavarian Brown in North America


Las Vegas NV, USA – Sylvan is proud to announce the launch of its latest brown agaricus mushroom strain at the 2024 NAMC North American Mushroom Conference in Las Vegas, NV.  Launched under the Bavarian Brown brand name this patented new variety promises exceptional financial performance for growers, while delivering a premium culinary experience to consumers. The strain produces high quality mushrooms with prolonged shelf-life and a deep golden-brown colour. High density results in high piece weight which in turn delivers exceptional picking performance; an all-important attribute sought after by modern mushroom growers.

“This is how chestnut mushrooms are meant to be”, commented one conference participant. The strain is versatile and grows any size from closed cup, creminis to large portobellos.

Market introduction

Sylvan expects to launch Bavarian Brown across North America throughout spring and summer of 2024 with additional market launches in South America, Europe and Asia expected in the fall. “We pride ourselves in our ability to provide our growers with the best technical support in the industry”, said Jimmy Miller, VP of Sales for Sylvan America. “Our Crop Care teams will be on the farms, supporting the growers to adapt their cultivation techniques so they can achieve the best possible results.
