Huai’an, China – Sylvan celebrates another important milestone at their Huai’an headquarters, due to sustainability efforts. The project marks another meaningful step forward in Sylvan’s sustainable journey. It contributes directly to its global ESG objectives by increasing on-site renewable energy capacity and reducing emissions.
A brand-new 913.2kWp photovoltaic power system has been successfully completed and connected to the grid. Covering 3,870 square meters across the Sylvan China factory rooftops and parking areas. The entire installation was delivered under an Energy Performance Contracting Model.
Through this model, Sylvan secured a fully integrated solution, including complete project delivery and long-term operational services. The system encompasses solar panels, controllers, inverters, and EV charging infrastructure. All implemented with zero upfront capital expenditure.
The installation combines high-efficiency solar panels with smart inverters and durable electrical infrastructure. Each component has been selected to ensure optimal reliability, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
In addition, an IoT-based remote monitoring platform is available. Accessible via a mobile app as well as from (desktop) computers. It provides real-time insights into power generation, system performance, and operational status; enabling transparent, data-driven visibility for everyone involved.

Measurable outcomes & strategic impact (expected performance):
- Daily generation under typical sunny conditions : 5.6 MWh – Recent peak achieved: 6.33 MWh on May 4th
- Daytime coverage: 100% electricity required for Buildings 1 and 2 (office operations and production) is generated from the solar panels.
- Annual CO₂ emissions reduction: 840 metric tons I Equal to the annual carbon absorption of roughly 84,000 trees.*
- Parking upgrade: The entire parking area is shaded by solar canopies. More than half (38 of 79) of the spaces are equipped with EV charging piles
*Calculation based on a carbon absorption factor of 10 kg CO₂ per tree per year, as referenced by One Tree Planted.
Mark O’Connor, Head of Asia, said: “In mid-April, we connected the photovoltaic system and began generating clean electricity for the Huai’an campus. We expect to save roughly 730,000 RMB in annual electricity costs. It’s a practical, measurable win for our operations and for our environmental footprint.”.
Jackie Qi, CEO of Sylvan, added: “This installation strengthens our ESG commitments while delivering real operational value. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this capability online. Towards a brighter tomorrow, powered by the sun, and by all of us”.
