French plant kicks off carbon footprint program C-Metric


Langeais, FR – This week part of the Sylvan Europe team kicked-off  for the first milestone of our [C]metric project at the Somycel spawn plant. This project is part of a wider Sylvan Global ESG strategy which will see other sites follow throughout 2024 and 2025.

Step one of the project aims to implement a process that will allow is to measure the Carbon footprint (referring to Greenhouse Gas emission) of our activities on site. We believe this indicator will help us to better understand the impact of our organization on climate change and identify key areas for improvement. “This will allow us to build a robust structure for an environmental strategy that will assist us to reduce our emissions and contribute to the global sustainability effort”, said Amelie Cavelier, Director of Operations in Sylvan Europe.

Team effort

A multidisciplinary team attended to the kick-off meeting which officially launched the process to measure the C footprint of our biggest spawn plant. The team will be supported by the expertise of O2M. The project is due to be roll out in the other subsidiaries of the group in a second step.
